What a month it's been at Dalla Patria.  Launching the new website, integrating the Honduras bags, figuring out FaceBook (thanks to those who follow).  With all of that activity going on, it's easy to forget why we are doing this.

I'm happy to announce that we are adding another country to the Dalla Patria "Homelands".  The Kenya products have been completed and we are working through the process of getting them shipped to the U.S.  The quality is incredible and I can't wait to share them with you.  Here is an example of some of the hand painted bowls and hand made rosaries.  (Forgive the picture quality, but Michael took it on his phone).

But getting back to why we are doing this?  Sure adding another homeland is great, but the story behind it is why we are doing what we are doing.  We met Michael Ogelo through some mutual friends.  Michael lives in Kenya with his wife and children and is hard working, dependable and has an entrepreneurial spirit to him.

When we first talked to Michael on WhatsApp, it was an amazing experience.  Through video, we were able to see the village where Michael lived, meet his wife and children, and learn a few new words in Swahili.   We learned that the village where Michael lived just got a hospital.  We learned that Michael was a great family man and the people in his village had the ability to make beautiful hand made products.  By helping these people sell their products in the United States we could make a meaningful difference in the quality of life for Michael, his family and his friends in the village.

And we learned that "Thank You Very Much" in Swahili is "Asante Sana".

So with that, we wanted to say Asante Sana to all of you that have helped us to get to where we are today.  As a friend, adviser or customer.   We will continue to work to bring great products from Homelands around the world to your Home while at the same time making a difference for the people who make these wonderful items.
